Info:

Welcome to the Gapcheon 10k/5k Information Page. Last year's 10k race was a great success, and along with the afterparty and side-events, we raised over 2,000,000W for the Korean Multiple Sclerosis Society. This year, the race promises to be bigger and better than ever.

If you would like to run in the November 5th race, we ask that you please take the time to pre-register. Please e-mail us at makingmiles365@gmail.com with your ...

  • Name
  • ARC # and/or Korean ID #
  • preferred e-mail address
  • and your choice of race - either 5k or 10k

Then bank-transfer* the entry fee to:

KB Bank: 740902-01-216308
Name: D. Diablos / Courtney Thomas

*If for some reason you're unable to bank transfer, feel free to register on the day of the event. You must have cash on-hand and in the correct amount, as we may or may not have enough change.***

AWARDS BANQUET: Be at the Daejeon Cantina from 3:30 to ??. It's the rare place in South Korea where you can enjoy some really authentic Mexican food.

If so, this will be a buffet-style meal for 10,000 at the door. At the Banquet, we'll give out prizes for the run, as well as hearing a small thank you from the President of the KMSS.

AFTERPARTY: As with last year's race, you are kindly invited to an after-party at Yellow Taxi in Downtown Daejeon that will have side-events and live music/DJs.

MS is Worldwide. The symptoms are far-reaching, from numbness to a weakened immune system, to loss of eyesight, motor skills, or even complete paralysis. Thousands, if not tens of thousands of Koreans suffer from this disease, but it is still sometimes misdiagnosed here and hasn't received the public's attention.

With your help and donation, the Korean Multiple Sclerosis Society can help to fight and publicize this disease here in the Land of the Morning Calm. With over 2,000 registered sufferers and a limited set of resources, the KMSS needs our help.

Finally, if you're on the fence about attending or participating, just check out our pictures from last year's event - here

See you soon!

Welcome Runners/Ruffians!

Welcome to the 2011 Gapcheon 10k/5k/Party Event Page!

If you ran last year, or grew a mustache, or simply played darts and slung cards at our afterparty, you know that we promised to make this year's follow-up even bigger. Last year, we raised over 2,000,000 won for the Korean Multiple Sclerosis Society. This year, the ceiling's far beyond ... I have no doubt of that.

The first change for the positive? People aren't going to freeze to death (last race was on chilly Dec. 4th).

This year's race is on November 5th. The afterparty will still have a swell poker/darts tournament and live music, as well.

Speaking of bonuses ... we're adding a 5k, too, because some of us are not exactly equipped to run for 45 min.

Last, but certainly not least, I'm proud to say that this year's race is not only being organized by Making Miles, but also the awesome Daejeon Diablos, who are running fools and have the uniforms and fiery Vibrams to prove it.

There'll be a lot more information to come. Stay tuned ...
